Compass Rose Hideaway is home to myself (Ashley), my husband Shayne, and our two kids, Everett and Clairie. We claim Eastern Kentucky these days, but not so long ago we lived in the Great Lakes region.
In August of 2024 we packed the necessities, hugged our family and friends goodbye, and started our epic journey. We’ve begun carving a life out of the mountains and every step of the way has been a learning curve. And now we plan to share this odyssey.
We’ve added chickens, ducks, muscovies and goats! We’ve cleared trees and put up fences (sometimes over and over) and experienced once in a life time floods. We’ve found fossils, mushrooms, wildlife and pieces of a bygone era scattered through our mountainside. And for everything we’ve achieved… we add more to the list of projects.
What we have started here is just too good to keep it to ourselves. So join us while we build a life for ourselves here in the heart of Appalachia.
